7th Annual Silver River Knap-in (Feb. 18–19, 2017)


Don’t miss the seventh annual Silver River Knap-In at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park. Expert flint knappers, archaeologists, potters, hide tanners, bow makers and other specialists in prehistoric skills will gather from across the U.S. to demonstrate their crafts.

This unique event includes displays of ancient Native American artifacts from Florida as well as archery, tomahawk and atlatl spear throwing demonstrations each day. Presentations by archaeologists exploring the Pre-history of Florida will take place on both
Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM – 4 PM. A flint knapping competition and on-going pre-historic skills demonstrations take place all weekend. Vendors also offer unique crafts, reproduction stone tools, raw stone, knapping tools and food for sale.

Visitors can also visit the Silver River Museum, hike or bike the trails of the state park, or canoe and kayak on the pristine Silver River. $5.00 Admission per person (kids five and under admitted free). Free state park entry and parking.
